Charles (Charlie) Jia, a proud Yindinji (North Queensland) and Badugal (Torres Straits) man, joined the AILC in August 2020 as a trainer and Program Leader. He now works with us in the specialist area of mental health first aid.

Charlie is a real people’s person with extensive professional and social networks. A successful entrepreneur, Charlie’s business acumen is backed by a social conscience . 

He is a leader amongst his peers, and constantly tests the waters by an “outside of the box” approach to developing solutions. When he is not shaping opportunities for clients, he enjoys researching his family history, travel and meeting interesting people.

Charlie is the Founder and Chief Solutions Consultant of Karma Lifestyles, as well as the founding member and inaugural chairperson of the South East Queensland Indigenous Chamber of Commerce.

More recently, he managed the MOMENTIM project for the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health as the Men’s Mental Health Regional Coordinator and has just completed a stint as the Institute’s Men’s Health Project Officer.  In 2019, Charlie was an ambassador (the Grey One) for the Movember Foundation Global Campaign.

He is passionate about mental health and wellbeing.
