Non accredited courses AILC courses unlock opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of all ages. We will help you start or expand your career and find ways to contribute to your community. Our non-accredited courses are open to people with a wide range of skills, learning styles, interests and cultural expression. The AILC team talks with Community groups across Australia to ensure our courses remain relevant and effective. Through our networks we stay abreast of local, regional and national issues and use that knowledge to innovate in the delivery of Indigenous leadership courses. Course Description Introduction to Indigenous Leadership This 2-day workshop designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students provides an introduction to leadership concepts and skills. The workshop combines traditional knowledge and culture with western leadership ideas. find out more Introduction to Diversity Mentoring This workshop is designed for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous students. The course is for students who wish to further develop their knowledge and skills to effectively mentor colleagues with different cultural backgrounds. find out more Youth Leadership Program The Youth Leadership Program is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 16 to 25 years old. It is for young people who want to build their confidence, learn skills and tools for change. The course aims to help students continue to grow their leadership capabilities in all areas of their life including family, community, school or workplace. The youth program is delivered over ten months. If your organisation is interested in partnering with the AILC to deliver a youth program in your region email [email protected] Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isander Mental Health First Aid This course offers instruction on how to assist an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. The course teaches practical, evidence-based action plans to help support someone experiencing a mental health crisis. This course is based on the expert consensus of Aboriginal mental health professionals, many of whom have experience of mental health challenges.
