The First Circles Leadership Program is an NT Government program aimed to help identify, mentor and support Aboriginal emerging leaders from remote communities across the Northern Territory.
This year the AILC partnered with the NT Government to deliver leadership training on Mparntwe Country (Alice Springs) and Larrakia Country (Darwin).

The program provides an opportunity for participants to directly engage with members of the NT Cabinet, where matters impacting Aboriginal people and our Communities are discussed and local solutions presented.

In the lead-up to the Cabinet meeting, participants take part in leadership training and workshops.  These are designed to build leadership skills, increase understanding of public policies and their impact on Communities. The hope is that participants can help influence and contribute to change.

First Circles is an annual leadership program offered to emerging Aboriginal leaders from the 6 regions of the Territory - Central Australia, Barkly, Big Rivers, East Arnhem, Top End and Darwin, Palmerston and Litchfield.  Applications for the 2024 program are open until 30 November 2023.

A participant in the August 2023 leadership workshop we held on Mparntwe Country had this to say about the session:

"Workshop was excellent. I have learned new things and the facilitator (Charlie) was very respectful and professional. I enjoyed the workshop very much, thank u".
It is so rewarding to have feedback like this from our students.
